Away with the Warriors

Finally on the way to check out the wonders of the West. What a better place to start than with the Terracotta Warriors in Xian.
Xian is only a one hour's flight from Chengdu making it easily accessible for a short trip. In
Xian you also notice that it is quickly developing into a mega city. The airport is a fair distance
from the city and the scenery changes instantly from country side to skyscrapers.

One day was spent visiting the famous
Terracotta warriors. The site is an immense excavation area where new discoveries of an ancient world are uncovered bringing local and international visitors alike.

Day two was spent with a friend of a colleague who showed me the ancient city walls, the Goose pagodas and local cuisine. This city has a lot to offer and I was lucky to have a local guide.

That evening for a snack we enjoyed a local specialty, roujiamo 肉夹摸. This is finely chopped lamb or meat with spices between a sliced open flatbread. It is often sold by street vendors. Delicious. May very well be the first hamburger!
